PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Mr. Lentz has experience involving the management of Real Estate Due Diligence Assessments (Phase I and Phase II ESAs); Asbestos Surveys, Storage Tank System Closure Assessments, Landfill Assessment, Remediation and Material Management, Contamination and Site Assessments (including characterization and delineation of soil and groundwater impacts), design and implementation of source removal activities, free product recovery, soil excavation and disposal, wastewater discharge permitting, hazardous waste facility compliance audits, emergency spill response actions, and the preparation of Source Removal, TCAR, SAR, MOP reports, and other associated regulatory agency submittals.

Mr. Lentz has managed hundreds of assessment related projects across the southeast United States and throughout the Caribbean, which involved impacts from petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, metals, pesticides, PCBs, and other regulated wastes.

   Managed numerous Central Florida landfill assessment and relocation projects. Responsible for aerial surveys, test pits, soil-gas surveys, drilling ,soil borings, monitor well installation and sampling procedures. Managed the remediation, disposal and relocation of the landfills for planned commercial property development.

  Managed a long-term pulp and paper mill (Rayonier, Fernandina Beach, FL) Landfill Management Program. Directly responsible for managing primary and secondary sludge. Managed over 200,000 gallons of secondary sludge per day using land application procedures. Procedures involved managing transportation, personnel, equipment, land application management and all recordkeeping to government regulators. Primary sludge management involved between 600 and 1000 yards of material per day. Responsible for landfill cell construction, cell management, tracking, personnel, equipment and record keeping. Experience includes excavating numerous primary sludge storage lagoons for land application procedures and landfill storage and management of material.

  Responsible for marketing, new business development, and estimating. Supervised projects, including value engineering, logistics, field operations, safety, equipment maintenance, scheduling, and report preparation. Projects included biosolid/sludge management; emergency spill response; landfill excavation and closure; sewage, leachate and wastewater transport and disposal; and soil and groundwater contaminant assessment, excavation, removal, transport, and disposal. Supervised drivers, subcontractors, and additional employees. Developed a pioneering process using former waste as a valuable fertilizer and soil enhancer, saving the company millions of dollars.

  Managed projects specializing in environmental needs within the petroleum industry, and performance of commercial real estate appraisals. Performed Site Assessments, including identifying contaminants and delineating the area and depth of contamination. Supervised sample collection, preservation, and handling techniques per FDEP quality assurance guidelines.

  Created, set-up and managed hazardous lead, cadmium and chromium containment and relocation projects for the Department of Defense’s warehouse depots in the Midwest. Oversaw daily operations, safety, personnel, and equipment within a hazardous environment. Maintained schedule in a Level B, PPE environment requiring manual stacking, banding, documenting, and relocating 300 metric tons of ingots daily.

  Developed and opened an office for a national environmental consulting firm specializing in state-funded contaminant assessment and remediation of petroleum sites. Designed and implemented work plans, determined nature of projects, and estimated the level of materials and subcontracting necessary to complete projects. Supervised and assisted in all stages of Contamination Assessment Reports preparation, including reviewing and submittal to governmental agencies. Designed groundwater and contaminant contour maps, performed aquifer test calculations, and recommended future action. Employed 15-20 staff and generated $2M in business by the end of the first year.

  Operated a consulting firm specializing in environmental needs within the petroleum industry, including environmental drilling and commercial real estate appraisals. Performed underground storage tank removals, including identifying contaminants and delineating the area and depth of contamination. Extensive knowledge of sample collection, preservation, and handling techniques per FDEP quality assurance guidelines. Operated and instructed employees in the use of organic vapor analyzers, portable gas chromatographs, groundwater data loggers, LEL meters, interface probes, water level meters, conductivity meters, and pH meters. Prepared site investigative reports detailing work performed, summarizing laboratory analyses and recommending necessary action.
